5 Anime Characters That Deserved Better

Anime Characters That Deserved Better - YuGiOh V

Nothing is more frustrating than watching a show and enjoying certain characters, only to be left stumped when they’re completely cast aside for plot convenience or to develop other characters and their motivations.

So I gathered up five characters that I believe truly deserved better than how they were treated in their respective shows.

Our usual heads up; please be aware that this article may contain events that you’ve yet to view.

If you’re good with continuing, let’s make a start!

5) Twenty-Fifth Baam – Tower of God

Anime Characters That Deserved Better - Baam

Twenty-Fifth Baam, or Baam for short, we follow his journey as he faces deadly enemies and situations that continue to test his resolve numerous times. Despite the hardships he’s forced to face, Baam is fuelled by his sole goal to find his friend, Rachel. However, when the anime came to a close, many viewers were left stunned by the ending and desperately wanting more.

If you’re curious to see what happens next, definitely check the Tower of God manhwa and see for yourself!

But if you’re solely an anime-only viewer, the upcoming Season 2 will be sure to surprise you!

4) L. Lawliet – Death Note

While I’m not personally a fan of this show, I can’t deny the way that such a cool and interesting character like L was handled in the series. Being one of the most popular characters in not only Death Note but the whole of anime in general, L left an impact on us that had many in uproar over the way his character made his exit from the series.

A quirky and loveable genius that many fans adore to this day, L will always be one man who deserved WAY better.

3) Ken Kaneki – Tokyo Ghoul

Ah, Tokyo Ghoul. A supernatural thriller/horror anime featuring too many graphic scenes to list, you’d be amazed how many fans of this anime agree that Kaneki deserved better than everything that happened to him.

At the beginning of the story, all he wanted to do was go on a date with a young lady named Rize, something that changes his life completely the very second she reveals her true intentions to his unsuspecting-self.

From there on, viewers watch as Kaneki is thrust into a darker world.

2) Saito Hiraga – Zero No Tsukaima/The Familiar of Zero

Anime Characters That Deserved Better - Saito Hiraga

Zero no Tsukaima/The Familiar of Zero holds a special place in my heart as one of the first anime shows I got into when I was a teenager.

Throughout the show, I often found myself empathising and sympathising with protagonist Saito Hiraga after he’s literally summoned into a different world full of madness, mythical beings and magic.

While his love interest and fellow-protagonist, Louise, isn’t a character that I particularly am fond of, Saito will be one character that deserved better treatment than he received from the characters in this show.

1) Yuzu, Serena, Rin and Ruri – Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc V

Anime Characters That Deserved Better - Yuzu

Now, all four girls are counterparts of each other from different dimensions and I honestly do believe they should have got so much better treatment than what they received.

I adore the Yu-Gi-Oh! Franchise and at first, we follow Yuzu Hiragi and her childhood friend, protagonist Yuya Sakaki as they show off their entertainment skills to the world watching.

The moment that the other three counterparts were brought in, fans of the show (myself included) were extremely interested in the mystery surrounding them and their connection to the main villain of the show.

However, as the series came to a close, we all were left feeling slightly disappointed after all four girls were put on a metaphorical bus and faded into obscurity while the anime was sloppily wrapped up.

Don’t even get me started on the final episode.
