Child of Light (Guang Zhizi) (光之子) Manhua Review

A review of Child of Light which is also known as Guang Zhizi. From the same creator of Battle through The Heavens. This manhua appears to feature a similar plot style which focuses around magical arts and fantasy realms.

I will start off by saying that while the art style is excellent for this – the storyline is a little forced. It seems that all of a sudden the protagonist is this amazingly talented child who will no doubt grow up to be one of the most important magisters in the continent. He is given these amazing opportunities and things just seem to align perfectly for him.

This manhua is available in both RAW and English versions, the RAW can be found on aa.qq and the unofficial fan translated English version can be found on scanlation sites such as MangaDex and MangaNelo.

A Small Synopsis

Zhang Gong Wei, a young talented genius, begins his magical journey using a forgotten/unused Light magic. He is introduced to his master, Xiyu Xiu and he begins his journey towards becoming a highly skilled magister.

What Is Good About Child of Light (Guang Zhizi)

I have to admit, the art style which is used for this is very stunning and it definitely feels magical! I like the colour choices and the overall palette is simply divine.

The second thing I like is the English translations which are currently done by fans. They are also simply outstanding. They make it flow really nicely and there are hardly any mistakes which are noticeable.

What Is Bad About Child of Light (Guang Zhizi)

I have read 20 chapters of this manhua so far, and I am a little upset as mentioned in the introduction of this article. The storyline feels very forced and the protagonist just seems to be getting all of these power-ups like there is no tomorrow. This doesn’t feel like a Tang Jia San Shao story.

The chapter length is very short and in my opinion, I found that it gets very annoying. Mainly because it leaves you stuck on parts where you can’t stop reading.

Overall Conclusion

I am sure that I have possibly just not given this manhua enough time, sometimes manhua can just take time to get into. I believe that if you like magic, fantasy and beautiful art – this manhua will be one you should enjoy.
