What Is Good About Tokyo Mew Mew (東京ミュウミュウ)

The Characters

I LOVE the majority of the cast in this franchise.

The heroines all have interesting personalities, as do Ryou Shirogane and Keiichiro Akasaka. The antagonists are also written pretty well, having a motive that does make you feel sympathy for them later on into the series.

On a personal note; while I do enjoy Ichigo’s character, my personal favourite is definitely Mew Mint!

The Art

Holy llamas the art from Tokyo Mew Mew is absolutely beautiful.

Combined with an adorable character style and unique costumes for each Mew Girl, I can always recall being absolutely amazed by the stunning visuals.

What Is Bad About Tokyo Mew Mew (東京ミュウミュウ)

Lack of Depth

I know that this a manga review, but I have to give props to the anime for this entry.

Let me explain…

Besides Ichigo, the other Mew Girls don’t get a LOT of time to flesh out their characters compared to the main lead. While I know Ichigo is our protagonist, I do feel that there should have been more backstory to the other four girls. All five of them work together to protect their world, so it just left me feeling a tad bit disappointed…

As for à la Mode… Hm.

Overall Conclusion

Despite my own gripes with the manga, I still greatly adore this one. If you’re a fan of magical girl series, animals or even cute artwork then Tokyo Mew Mew definitely takes the cake!
