Ooh, I’m a big fan of this manga!

As somebody who was a little disappointed with the ending of Fairy Tail, I was pleasantly surprised when I started reading the first few chapters of this fun, action-packed space adventure!

What Is Good About Edens Zero (エデンズゼロ)

The Art

I really love the beautiful artwork, especially of the planets and cosmos that our characters travel through. Absolutely stunning.

The Characters

The entire crew of Edens Zero are absolutely loveable.

With Shiki’s charming naive nature, Homura’s cute awkwardness, Rebecca’s zany personality and Weisz’s comedic moments, I always have a big stupid grin on my face watching their hijinks on the ship. Their friendship FEELS real, too, which is something I really love to see.

What Is Bad About Edens Zero (エデンズゼロ)

Oh look! Another series where I complain about fanservice. Like I’ve mentioned in another recent review, I’m personally not a big fan of this trope. I had this issue with Fairy Tail too but I don’t hate it, it’s just not my thing.

Character Tropes

I really like Rebecca BUT, in the first chapter, Shiki had to save her from the robots. Then in the Guilst Arc, she was taken prisoner but had some pretty funny and badass moments. This happens to her again later on in the series where the readers discover a major moment involving Rebecca in the series. I really despise the damsel in distress trope in ANY type of media and she’s a very strong and likeable character to me, so I truly hope this doesn’t become a regular thing from here on out.

Please don’t think this is me hating on her, I do genuinely like Rebecca as opposed to how I felt Lucy Heartfilia’s character declined throughout Fairy Tail’s story.

Overall Conclusion

If you like adventure coupled in with science-fiction thrown into the mix, then Edens Zero is the manga for you!

I love this manga, despite its flaws so hopefully, you can enjoy it too! Think I missed anything out? Please tell me about it!
